There are six of us in each of the three cars and we head off for 4 hours of touring the desert. It is the greatest of fun. Over dunes and along invisible roads.

A guide goes into the tombs with his group and sings a beautiful Arabic trill which makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. None of us dare move or speak as the sound echoes gently around the cave for fear of breaking the spell. He sings for less than a minute but that moment may stay with me forever.

It’s an amazing tranquil place with olive trees along the paths. It feels very serene and you feel the need to speak in hushed tones.

My friend, mentioned how much she loved Petra and dreamed of going to Jordan. I told her that it was my dream too. She then rang me a couple of weeks later and called my bluff. Did I want to go on a trip to Jordan? With the minutest of pauses I said 'Absolutely!'

We found whole swathes of snowdrops on banks beside winding paths. They are as far as the eye can see. Absolutely glorious.

When you climb over the dunes the sight of all the seals takes your breath away. You don’t quite believe your eyes at first as they lie on the water’s edge as far as the eye can see.

We had a wonderful invitation to a party in Slovakia and of course we had to accept!

My birthday is in January and so why would you not fly to northern Scotland to celebrate?

The mist is gently clearing leaving a stunning brilliant blue cloudless sky. I spotted a snowy egret in the stream totally oblivious to me and happily fishing. Further along the path a little egret in a tree.

Every now and again you do need to treat yourself and spend time with friends. A planned trip to the Finchingfield lavender fields finally came around and I sneakily closed up shop for the afternoon and headed off.

There is a field of wild cornflowers, not far from where I live and I am going back there often to photograph them. It’s very hot currently, so I go early in the morning when its cooler. It’s a little bit of a trek with the cameras, but definitely worth it.

If you have ever taken the time to watch ducks, or any bird for that matter they take more care in their appearance than you’d think. Clean and neat feathers are clearly important.

I have lived in the area all my life and have never thought of the Thames estuary as being somewhere to find wild birds.

Can you believe it that we have already had the longest day? Where does the time fly to? When my yoga instructor told me that she wasn’t heading for Stonehenge but was instead going to Hadleigh Castle for the sunrise, I couldn’t resist joining her.

The Seven Sisters Chalk Cliffs, are truly iconic. The wild flowers were dainty and colourful and they looked absolutely perfect with the big imposing cliffs as a background.
